Job Description:
The DevelopmentAssistant works alongside fundraisers, university colleagues and externalconstituents to develop, support and maintain programs and activitiesconsistent with securing philanthropic support for the University. Primary responsibilities include: preparingmaterials for fundraiser prospect visits, making travel arrangements,completing transmittal forms for pledges and gifts received, filing visitreports in Blackbaud, drafting gift acknowledgments, and requesting researchand pulling additional donor or prospect information from various systems. Done well, these tasks assist fundraisers inidentifying the most desirable prospects and donors.

Development Assistantsalso support the work associated with external constituents' visits to campus,meetings and special events, often interfacing with the Programs and Eventsteam, to maximize event effectiveness within budgetary guidelines. Given the extensive independent contact withexternal constituents including alumni and parent volunteers, donors, anduniversity officials, this position requires strong interpersonal andorganizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral andwritten communications skills; and complete discretion regarding the handlingand storing of confidential data.

There arecurrently two open Development Assistants available in the following units:

Principal Giving:Fundraising in this unit is focused on building relationships and securingseven- and eight-figure gifts from high-net-worth individuals in support ofUniversity priorities. The DevelopmentAssistant reports to the Associate Vice President of Principal Giving and CampaignDirector and supports the Senior Philanthropic Advisors in the unit.

Schools &Programs: Positions in this unit are the primary conduit between theAdvancement Division and the deans, and serve as content experts for aportfolio of schools and programs that comprise BC's most prominent areas ofresearch, teaching and service.

Full-TimeEquivalent Hiring Range: $45,350 to $56,700; salary commensurate with relevantexperience.

Requirements

This positionrequires 2-3 years of increasingly responsible administrative experience in aprofessional setting; strong interpersonal and organizational skills withattention to detail and accuracy; excellent oral and written communicationsskills including effective phone communication skills; accurate typing skills; aworking knowledge of Windows PC, including Microsoft Office, and familiaritywith Customer Relationship Management databases; exceptional proofreading;strong attention to detail; a commitment to accuracy; and very adept at handlingmultiple tasks and working well within deadlines. Also requires good judgment, discretion inhandling confidential materials, ability to work independently without closesupervision, and flexibility to work beyond the regular hours of the workdaywhen necessary. Candidate must possesssolid knowledge of grammar and punctuation.

Requires a highschool diploma, bachelor's degree preferred. Candidates should be highly motivated to work in a fast-pacedenvironment that will require some night and evening work.

Must be a teamplayer who is highly motivated and dedicated to the goals of advancing highereducation and have an appreciation for Jesuit Catholic education and the goalsand values of Boston College. A desireto build a career in advancement is a plus.
