This administrative support position is responsible for the processing of all private alternative student loans in accordance with federal and state statutes and regulations. and alternative loans. Administers and processes all state loans including MEFA loans, and Massachusetts No-Interest Loans. Responsible for processing State Grant eligibility rosters. Assists in the day-to-day operations of the Student Financial Assistance office as needed, including activities related to but not limited to the financial aid application and verification processes, exit and entrance counseling/interviews as required by federal and state statutes/regulations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include the following plus other duties as assigned.

Private Loan Processing

• Responsible for the certification and processing of all alternative loans, through Banner, Elm Select, and State processing systems.
• Responsible for the reconciliation of all alternative loans, through Banner, COD, and Elm Select.
• Administer the MA No-Interest Loan Program preparing promissory notes, disbursements, and reconciliation in accordance with state regulations.
• Assists with the preparation of entrance and exit interview processes for new borrowers and graduate borrowers.

State Grant Roster Management

• Responsible for processing and certification of all state grant awards. Including reviewing eligibility, awarding, and reconciliation of state funds through Banner and appropriate State grant sites. Including managing all functions related to state grant certification processing including eligibility, certification, error resolution, certification, and disbursement.
• Collaborate with Sr. Assistant Director of Financial Aid, for monthly reconciliation and year-end reporting.

Counseling

• Assists with communication to graduate students. Including submission of financial aid applications, review of financial aid eligibility, and awarding of eligible aid.
• Provide counsel to parents and students on loan borrowing, basic financial literacy, and debt levels.
• Provide personal service to students, prospective students, and parents, that is accurate, confidential, consistent, empathetic, equitable, and just.
• Attend any required state and training workshops as necessary.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Vacation may not be taken during peak periods, including registrations. Must not have been and must not currently be under debarment or suspension and not under investigation for any activity that could be a cause for debarment or suspension by any federal agency.
