The research data manager collects and enters extensive data into Children's Hospital Neonatal Database (CHND). Directs data flow for studies supported by the Newborn Medicine Clinical Research Program, focused specifically on the CHND.
Collaborates with Project Directors and Principal Investigators on the design, development, implementation, and validation of databases.
Establishes and follows procedures for effectively entering, cleaning and managing data.
Develops and maintains data record filing system. Provides data management support to study staff, including senior data managers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Collect and enter extensive data into Children's Hospital Neonatal Database (CHND). Review MD/nursing notes, outside hospital records, and labs and collect detailed demographic data prenatal and birth history. Collect and enter detailed patient history including all previous respiratory support, surgical procedures, neurological conditions, specific treatments and morbidities.
Provides data coordination and data management services for the CHND and other studies supported by the Newborn Medicine Clinical Research Program.
Assists research biostatisticians with analysis file creation and statistical analyses. Supports clinical research reporting for data review, quality control checks, and interim and final analysis.
Respond to data requests from NICU and hospital staff. Assemble Statistics regarding admissions and patient population, specifically for USNWR, PPSQ, Infection Control, etc.
Coordinate with NICU administrative staff to track patient admissions and discharges. Oversee all patient data entry into NICU REDCap database.
Collect extensive data on all NICU patients/admissions, using medical records and Patient360.
Provides positive and effective customer service and contributes to teamwork within and between departments, divisions, programs and other organizations.
Minimum Knowledge and Skills Required
Work requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in health science, mathematics or related field and a minimum of two or more years of data collection, entry and coordinator experience.
Work requires the analytical skills to handle clinical research data in an organized, accurate and timely manner.
Work requires strong working knowledge and experience with data management and statistical software (e.g. SAS, SPSS, relational data management, web based EDC).
Work requires critical attention to detail and accuracy.
