Responsibilities: The Plant lab is seeking a full-time research tech. The Research Technician will assist in laboratory research related to the pharmacology and pathophysiology of membrane proteins and associated drugs and endogenous regulators. The Research Technician will manage daily operations of the laboratory related to molecular biology and sample preparation. The Research Technician will perform TIRF and electrophysiology laboratory assays, data collection, data analysis and maintaining laboratory records.
Qualifications: This position requires a B.S. degree in biology, physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience or a related discipline. Candidates should have experience at least one-years' worth of experience with molecular biology, in vitro transcription of RNA, tissue culture and patch-clamp electrophysiology. The candidate must have existing experience of TIRF microscopy and single particle tracking analysis. The candidate must be able to carefully organize and analyze the data generated from experiments, have appropriate communication skills and the ability to carefully follow instructions are necessary. The candidate should be enthusiastic about research and have a passion for learning laboratory methods as well as working cooperatively with others as part of a team. The job responsibilities are: Molecular biology for lab projects (Including transformation of bacteria with plasmids; mini/ midi/ maxi-prep of plasmid DNA; restriction digests and analysis; in vitro transcription of RNA); Lab management and data curation (including General lab maintenance, including maintaining records, organizing and curating data, analyzing data where necessary. Presenting and discussing the data within the lab group); Cell maintenance (including Mammalian tissue culture and transfection of tissue culture cells); Laboratory Assays (including Electrophysiological and microscopy studies using patch-clamp, calcium imaging, FRET and TIRF microscopy with single particle tracking). The Research Technician will play a role in ordering laboratory supplies, as directed by the PI.
