Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director (and in collaboration with the RN and other Wellness Center staff), assists in the examination and treatment of patients and has basic skills in treatments and procedures. In addition, may be involved in other areas of medical office support including clerical, environmental and organizational.
• Keep accurate and up-to-date health records on all undergraduate students; verify student health records for completeness and follow up on any missing information as needed; • Uses electronic health record following established protocols for documentation, responding to requests, and initiating appropriate tests and orders; • Coordinate lab tests: collect and prepare specimens to send to lab; screen tests and route to NP, flagging highly important results; follow up by notifying student with results; schedule follow up health appointments; • Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients, including stocking and cleaning; • Assists primary coordinator for NH Immunization Program; maintains immunization stock and files necessary reports with the Program, assists with immunization clinic coordination; administers NH State Immunizations to students; • Perform telephone assessments to evaluate nature and severity of medical problems; schedule with the RN or NP as indicated; • Assists NP with procedures and examinations; • Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials, removes outdated materials and ensures proper labeling; • Assists with collection of statistical data for Health Services Quality Assurance and other reports.
Education • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, Certified Medical Assistant preferred or trained Military Medic.
Certification, Registration & Licensure • Current certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification or Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers
Experience • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
Skills/Knowledge • Experience with electronic medical record system.
