We are seeking a highly-motivated and skilled Senior Research Technician who will be responsible for providing high-level technical support for ongoing research efforts in the lab of the chair of the Department of Pediatric Oncology, Dr. Scott Armstrong. Our research focuses on epigenetic mechanisms that control stem cell like properties in leukemia. This information is used to develop new therapeutic approaches. The senior research technician will work with in vitro and in vivo models of pediatric cancers to validate new therapeutic candidates for leukemias and solid tumors.
Help to plan and execute pre-clinical in vivo mouse studies with novel therapeutic agents in mouse models of cancer – will assess tumor formation and drug response; perform animal handling, bleeding, injections, dosing
Independently execute cell and molecular biology techniques including Tissue Culture, Western blotting, DNA/RNA isolation, FACS, PCR, qPCR and preparing samples for RNA-seq and ChIP-seq, etc.
Document, analyze and organize experimental data
Effectively report data in written and oral formats
Bachelor's /Master's degree in Biology or related field
2 - 4 years of related experience in a scientific or medical research setting
Animal handling experience with proficiency in mouse tumor models is preferred.
Experience with molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA isolation, Western blotting, PCR, and flow cytometry
Requires a working knowledge of basic computer skills, including data management, word processing, and graphic software (Excel, MS Word, Graphpad/PRISM) is preferred.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
