ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT II , Chemical Engineering , to perform complex and diverse duties in support of the Langer Lab office and Professor Robert Langer. Will serve as a high-level contributor and coordinator for multiple projects. Responsibilities include coordinating recommendation letter projects; working with Professor Langer to create PowerPoint presentations for speaking engagements; composing, typing, editing, and proofreading correspondence, proposals, and other materials; managing book/book chapter and special journal issue projects for Professor Langer; managing and organizing logistics for the annual Langer Lab summer retreat for approximately 150-200 attendees; responding to a wide variety of communications from scientific researchers to media reporters and sponsors; updating the professor's CV and bios; processing NIH PubMed Central (PMC) manuscripts; organizing, coordinating, and obtaining receipts for submission of out-of-pocket reimbursements; assisting subgroup leader with calendar and travel management, routine correspondence, and submission of reimbursements; serving as back up for professor's calendar and travel arrangements; and assisting with other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED : at least three years' administrative experience, preferably in an academic environment; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, analyze and interpret a variety of solutions to determine the best course of action, develop tools and strategies to meet goals and deadlines, and ensure proper resolution and completion of projects; discretion and good judgment with confidential issues/information; strong organizational, time-management, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to write and edit correspondence for grammatical accuracy and prepare short documents with minimal direction; ease with both in person and telephone contacts; proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
