The Scientific Computing Unit provides a variety of information technology services including network access, file sharing, server backups, network and data security, database support, laboratory information systems support, and desktop support for Windows and Macintosh clients. Desktop computers are fully networked for Intra/Internet access and licensed for presentation software and data management and analysis. Technical staff provides desktop support, consulting, systems analysis and programming services.
This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, availability and integrity of the server components of the HNRCA network, as well as data and systems backups. These services are vital for the 200+ HNRCA users who depend on these systems for services and data storage necessary to perform the responsibilities of their respective positions.
2 to 3 years experience in systems administration in a research setting.
Required education: Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
Special licenses required:
Required computer/technical skills: Linux and Windows Server OS experience; server virtualization, Windows Active Directory, Tape Library and Backup administration and maintenance, Computer imaging and deployment
MCSA and A+, Network+, Security+, MCSE certifications, VMWare, Hyper-V, Quantum storage systems and tape libraries,
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA),
Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
