About the Opportunity: The School of Architecture is located in the heart of Boston, a thriving urban center of culture and innovation with extensive global connections and intellectual networks. Within the School, there are two interrelated disciplines: architecture and urban landscape. The School currently offers three undergraduate degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Architecture; a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies; and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. The School also offers two graduate degrees: a professionally accredited Master of Architecture; and a Master of Design for Sustainable Urban Environments. The School also contributes curriculum to combined degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate, including combined degrees in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering, and Urban Planning and Design.
The College of Arts, Media and Design (CAMD) has a unique combination of disciplines, including Architecture, Art+Design, Communication Studies, Journalism, Media and Screen Studies, Music, and Theatre. Responsibilities: The School of Architecture at Northeastern University announces a search for an Assistant Professor, tenure-track, with a particular focus on the integration of data and technology into the design and construction of built environments - buildings, cities, landscapes. Teaching responsibilities will include studio and seminar or lecture courses. The position has an anticipated start date of Fall 2020.
This position is part of a cluster-hire across CAMD, building upon the success of that academic units' innovative pedagogical approach to Information Design, Data Visualization, and Data Storytelling. Through this particular hire, the School of Architecture will contribute to this nationally recognized interdisciplinary team of scholars and designers through cutting edge expertise in building science, a field increasingly informed by advanced data modeling at various scales, ranging from the building component to the globe. This new position will also build upon the School of Architecture's strong building technology faculty and on its established links to the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, as well as working to forge new relationships with other parts of the College and University. In addition, this new faculty member will have the opportunity to forge research initiatives in close collaboration with the newly formed Center for Design.
Situated within the College of Arts, Media and Design, the School of Architecture is well positioned to connect to other fields within the College and University, and University Institutes such as the Global Resilience Institute or the Center for Design.
