The Division of Preventive Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Medicine and the NCI designated UAB O'Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center seek doctoral-level candidates for an Associate or Full Professor biostatistician faculty position. Mid to senior level career investigators who have established independent research programs and demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding or to collaborate extensively with investigators to obtain extramural funding are sought for this position. Salary and tenure status are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics, or closely related field. Candidates will be considered who have experience and interest in collaborating with cancer center investigators, scientific productivity related to biostatistical methodology, and the ability to work as part of multidisciplinary teams. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Accomplishments that include innovative contributions to peer-reviewed publications or active participation in peer-reviewed research funding are preferred.
Incumbents in this position will be responsible for collaboration with cancer center investigators and clinical, basic and translational scientists in such areas as early phase clinical trials, large multi-center trials, observational studies including comparative effectiveness research, laboratory investigations and population-based epidemiologic studies. Additionally, incumbents will conduct original statistical and collaborative research, data analyses, assist in software development; provide support for development and review of clinical trial protocols; provide support for preparation of grant applications and research publications; provide other biostatistical methodology support and consultation to investigators as needed.
