The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE) at Boston University (BU) anticipates a
Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the broader area of computer systems and software, pending Provost approval. Focus areas include but are not limited to operating systems, security, compilers, storage and networking systems, distributed and cloud systems, and mobile systems. BU's footprint in these areas is continuing to grow significantly. Candidates with research programs that transcend the traditional boundaries of ECE will have the option to explore affiliated appointments in appropriate departments, such as Computer Science, and Mathematics and Statistics. BU ECE is a rising department and attracts exceptional graduate student and faculty talent at all levels.
We have over 50 world-class faculty members and more than 350 graduate students. Research activity by primary faculty is approximately $26M per year. According to US News and World Report both EE and CE programs rank in the top 20 among private universities. BU ECE faculty lead and participate in several high-profile, multidisciplinary research centers, including the Center for Information and Systems Engineering, the Hariri Institute for Computing and Computational Science and Engineering, the Center for Systems Neuroscience, the Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Science and Engineering, and the Photonics Center.
We are looking for outstanding candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, who demonstrate potential for leading an independent and vibrant funded research program in their area of expertise, teach effectively at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and utilize their expertise to strengthen collaborative research within the department and beyond.
