TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I/NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCING SPECIALIST , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research-Love Lab , to enable and execute experiments focused on next generation sequencing (NGS) workflows. Will apply working knowledge of current techniques in single cell and bulk RNA sequencing. Will join a knowledgeable and friendly multidisciplinary team of scientists who are part of a larger initiative developing an integrated platform to manufacture therapeutic recombinant proteins using a microbial host. The position offers an opportunity to make visible and recognized contributions to scientific research, cross-train in new technical areas, and leverage knowledge of molecular biology and nucleic acid biochemistry. Responsibilities will include utilizing standard laboratory equipment and automated liquid handlers to create next generation sequencing libraries; collaborating with team members to best deploy NGS capabilities and workflows; implementing analytical pipelines for analyzing NGS data (RNA-Seq and single cell RNA-Seq); maintaining organized and accurate records of each project performed; and other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : B.S. (M.S. desirable) in a relevant scientific field (e.g., engineering, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology); at least two years' specialized lab experience, which may include experience gained as an undergraduate; industrial/academic laboratory experience; experience with next generation sequencing workflows; excellent analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; commitment to producing accurate and reproducibly high-quality work; and awareness of basic safety issues and procedures for maintaining a safe work environment. Must be able to multitask and organize multiple experiments simultaneously; work with and maintain technical instruments/equipment; plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; and liaise with investigators and document effective protocols.
