This position provides for the safety and well-being of students, faculty, staff and property by supplementing the efforts of Campus Safety officers. This position operates the Communications Center of the Campus Safety department, including answering telephones, operating computer systems, access points, and two-way radios in oftentimes stressful situations.
• Function in a multitask environment and receive and respond to a variety of emergency and non-emergency services and complaints from a multi-line telephone system; • Interpret, analyze and anticipate the caller’s situation as to resolve problems, provide information, dispatch emergency service, or refer caller to other departments or outside agencies; • Answer routine and emergency radio traffic, by communicating with officers, other departments and outside agencies; • Enter, modify, and retrieve information from multiple computer systems, camera systems, access point programs, and databases. • Document activities/ actions of Campus Safety officers, including building opening and closing times, safety transports and escorts, building let-ins and other Campus Safety services; • Monitor campus alarm systems, police/fire department scanner for activity occurring in local area, and direct officers’ response; • Serve as a receptionist/resource person for all campus phone traffic and walk-ins needing information, directions or other types of customer service.
• High school diploma or GED • 1-3 years’ dispatcher experience • Must hold a valid New Hampshire driver’s license • Proficient with Microsoft Office products • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to maintain confidential information • Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous responsibilities
• Experience with online incident management systems preferred but not required
