Financial Aid Coordinator - School of Medicine - (19001821)
The Office of Financial Aid processes in excess of $40M annually to assist students with their financial needs while in attendance at Tufts University School of Medicine. Approximately 80% of students who attend TUSM require some type of financial assistance. The Office of Financial Aid serves graduate/professional students who are enrolled in the School of Medicine and/or Friedman School of Nutrition seeking various degrees. The Office of Financial Aid plays a vital role with counseling and serving the needs of students, providing financial literacy, and determining eligibility while maintaining compliance. The successful administration of this process has a very serious impact on both enrollment and tuition revenue.
In addition to the MD population, the Office of Financial is responsible for processing aid for both PhD students and masters level students who are enrolled within TUSM and/or the School of Nutrition. Due to the nature of enrollment in these programs, financial aid administration can be more complicated for these students. The number of students enrolled in the Public Health and Professional Degree Programs and the MD programs continue to increase significantly. With the high cost of tuition all TUSM students face, they continue to be dependent on programs administered by the Office of Financial Aid in order to be able to matriculate at TUSM.
Excellent customer service is critical in order to properly assist students in attendance in any of the programs that we serve. Timely, successful processing of aid is crucial to cash flow since tuition revenue comes largely from financial aid. Responsive support and timely delivery of living expense money is an important part of student satisfaction which influences alumni support. Knowledge of the federal Title IV and Title VII regulations is essential if Tufts is to avoid major audit exceptions requiring the return of funds and/or fines and maintain its eligibility to participate in these programs. The potential impact of less than optimal results (at the same time) in all these areas would be seriously detrimental to the ability of the school to fulfill its mission.
The Financial Aid Coordinator will provide excellent customer service to applicants, students, families and alumni at TUSM; perform a variety of functions in regards to financial aid and provide administrative support to the professional staff within the Office of Financial Aid.
