About the Opportunity:
The Center for Advancing Teaching and Learning Through Research (CATLR) inspires, equips, and connects learners, educators, and scholars to design, integrate, and research learning across experiences at Northeastern University. As the first point of contact for CATLR, the Administrative Assistant will perform a variety of administrative responsibilities to support day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities: The individual in this position will work independently and across various teams with differing needs to provide general office support to this end, including:
Greeting and interacting with University personnel and external contacts and referring them to appropriate resources across CATLR and to other University units, as needed;
Supporting setup and other logistics for day-to-day, small-scale, and large-scale events;
Assisting with schedule/calendar management for CATLR leadership;
Maintaining minutes for day-to-day and key strategic planning meetings;
Monitoring and updating various websites in support of marketing and outreach efforts;
Updating various databases through data entry and maintenance;
Supporting procurement efforts through purchasing supplies, catering, etc.; and
Providing other mission-critical support as needed.
This position requires a self-motivated, technically competent individual capable of prioritizing and handling a variety of tasks simultaneously. Candidates must have strong communication (oral and written), interpersonal, analytic and organizational skills; be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and independent judgment; and perform at a high standard/quality of care in a demanding and fast-paced environment. The Administrative Assistant should have a positive attitude, proactively look for ways to help others, be willing to seek out and take on extra work when needed, and be open to doing tasks in new or different ways. The Administrative Assistant must also have advanced experience effectively utilizing Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook (particularly the calendaring function), Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and preferably be familiar with Mac operating systems.
A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred, plus two to three years of administrative experience, preferably in a college/university setting.
