General Statement of Duties: This position is for ten (10) months annually and will assist the Staff Associate, Head Athletic Trainer with sports medicine needs of Worcester State University student-athletes.
Responsibilities: (E) = Essential
1. (E) Assists the athletic sports medicine area of the Athletic Department at the university. 2. (E) Provides care, prevention and treatment of athletic injuries to the university athletic community including varsity athletes. 3. (E) Provides coverage at varsity home contest and practices and coordinate coverage with opponents for away contests. 4. (E) Helps supervise a student assistants program. 5. (E) Provides record keeping information for all athletic injuries and insurance forms as needed. 6. (E) Serves as liaison between Worcester State University and sports medicine clinics as needed. 7. (E) Provides supervision and instruction to the athletic training room graduate assistants and interns. 8. (E) Provides assistance to student athletes with insurance issues including coordination of HIPPA regulations. 9. (E) Travels to local and out-of-state athletic competitions during the academic school year and scheduled breaks as necessary. 10. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students. 11. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan. 12. (E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives. 13. Performs other duties as assigned.
1. N.A.T.A. Certification. 2. Bachelor's degree 3. Prior experience in the field of athletic training, preferably at the university level. 4. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of the sports medicine area. 5. Thorough knowledge of current athletic training principles. 6. Professional Rescuer CPR/AED 7. Massachusetts Allied Health License 8. Ability to travel locally and out-of-state and possess a valid drivers license 9. Ability to work varied hours to accommodate practice and game schedules 10. Demonstrated awareness/sensitivity toward issues pertaining to affirmative action and non-discrimination.
