Responsibilities: The graduate program coordinator (GPC) for the department of pharmaceutical sciences performs diversified administrative, student services, supervisory, compliance, and support duties to assure the smooth and efficient operation of the graduate programs in pharmaceutical sciences, a growing program currently enrolling approximately 200 students. Thr RPC works closely with the graduate program director (GPD) in the department of pharmaceutical sciences and the department's graduate committee to establish and maintain and administer policies and procedures in support of strategic goals of the program. The GPC is the first and primary point of contact for prospective and enrolled students and provides advising on a variety of student issues, many that are complex in nature. The GPC manages a wide variety of operational and support tasks for the MS and PhD programs with regard to recruitment, application processing, monitoring compliance with academic progression requirements, communications with students, and student support.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. A minimum of two years' experience in business, healthcare and/or academic administrative is required.. The position requires excellent computer skills with particular proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook along with experience in website administration and basic publishing software. Excellent grammar, composition and writing skills are needed, including the ability to compose professional correspondences independently via email/letter. Excellent skills in customer service, verbal communication, management of confidential information, and problem solving are required. A proven ability to work in a culturally diverse environment is essential, as the PRC must be able to communicate effectively with individuals/students from diverse and international backgrounds. The successful candidate must have excellent planning and time management skills;, be able to prioritize and execute tasks be resourceful and; flexible, and be able to work both independently and collaboratively on projects in a team oriented environment.
