The Department of Epidemiology, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, studies the frequency, distribution, and determinants of disease in humans, a fundamental science of public health. We are seeking a team-oriented and dynamic Administrative Assistant to join our Program in Genetic Epidemiology and Statistical Genetics (PGSG) team and our Program in the Epidemiology of Infectious Disease (ID) at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Our innovative research group is comprised of Harvard faculty, research fellows, doctoral students, biostatisticians, and research assistants.
The Administrative Assistant role is a great position for someone who may be interested in pursuing a career in medicine or public health. The Administrative Assistant will be an integral member of our team and make important contributions to a variety of research and operational activities. We are looking for a proactive individual seeking a progressive and stimulating research environment.
The Administrative Assistant will be mainly responsible for integrating and coordinating the research and teaching activities of four faculty members, Drs. George Seage, Alkes Price, Liming Liang, and David Hunter. This position requires multi-tasking, providing accurate and timely results with attention to detail, and prioritizing and managing competing deadlines. The Administrative Assistant will also be engaged with the department's administrative team to support departmental projects as needed.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide overall administrative and operational support
Draft and edit correspondence and documents
Prepare and edit presentation materials using PowerPoint
Proofread manuscripts and enter references
Coordinate travel arrangements
Website content management
Prepare financial reports
Coordinate progress report and ethical approvals
Plan and implement research meetings, seminars, retreats, and various other events as needed
Provide administrative support to the IRB process
Assist with onboarding of new team members
Other duties as assigned
PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term appointment of January 31, 2021, with the possibility of extension.

3+ years of related experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered
BA/BS strongly preferred
Experience with MS Office Suite strongly preferred
Experience working in and/or interest in working in a research, medical, or public health setting strongly preferred
Experience with Adobe products strongly preferred
Experience with EndNote a plus
Proven communication skills (verbal and written), as well as analytical and logical reasoning skills preferred
Experience exercising attention to detail and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment preferred
Experience working independently and as part of a team preferred
