Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Responsible for the daily care of various species of laboratory animals: mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, dogs, sheep, rabbits, swine or other species of laboratory animals as necessary. Duties include cleaning, feeding and watering of animals as assigned.
Other responsibilities include:
Observation of animals for abnormalities and sickness and reporting such findings to the appropriate supervisory or veterinary personnel
Observation and reporting of deviations in the environment which would affect animal health or research projects (e.g. high temperature or humidity)
Accurate record keeping of daily animal census and other information as requested
Compliance with federal, state & local regulations concerning laboratory animals
Other duties as assigned by animal care supervisor.
HCCM animal care technicians are considered essential personnel
Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.

High school graduate or equivalent with 6+ months of experience in a laboratory animal related program,which includes 3+ months of direct animal care experience. Weekend and/or holiday work may be required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and push up to 300 lbs frequently.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Basic computer skills required. AALAS certification at the ALAT level strongly preferred.
