The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the campus Emergency Preparedness and response. This position serves the needs of the university community by providing knowledge and expertise in the areas of: emergency preparedness, emergency management, homeland security, exercise planning and design, and hazard vulnerability risk assessments. Specific duties include:
Maintain and update the university's Emergency Operations Plan as needed/required.
Recommend procedural enhancements or modifications of the university's Emergency Operations Plans.
Develop and administer training exercises such as: tabletop, functional, and full-scale, to test response and recovery operations related to emergency preparedness.
Coordinate emergency preparedness activities with university departments.
Maintain records of training exercises related to emergency preparedness.
Serve as liaison between university and other agencies in reference to emergency preparedness/emergency management and Homeland Security.
Enhance communications protocols for critical incidents.
Assist in the development of an Emergency Management website.
Coordinate and Chair the university's Emergency Preparedness Committee.
Advise the university's Crisis Management Executive Team.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's Preferred) and at least two years experience in Emergency Management. Must have thorough knowledge of emergency management and emergency preparedness methods and practices. Must have working knowledge of: Emergency Operations Plans (EOP), Continuity of Operations Plans (COOP), Incident Action Plans (IAP), and Hazard Vulnerability Risk Assessments (HVRA).
Certified Emergency Manager (CEM).
National Incident Management System (NIMS) or Incident Command System (ICS) certification.
