The Office of Student Leadership, Involvement, and Civic Engagement (SLICE) at Carnegie Mellon University consists of expert professionals with an outstanding ability to: cultivate relevant, one-to-one mentoring relationships with passionate and entrepreneurial students; deeply influence the growth and development of the leaders of tomorrow; craft unique experiences building on the talents of a diverse, multifaceted community; and contribute to our Student Affairs Division whose cornerstone is a deep, sustained dedication to the ongoing care of its students.
We are searching for a Financial Assistant to join our team in supporting the financial efforts of our 300+ student organizations, including Student Government-recognized organizations and Greek organizations. Under the direction of the Senior Financial Administrator in SLICE, this staff member focuses on the management of financial activity generated by robust student purchasing.
This fixed-term position is an hourly full-time role with an anticipated start date in October, 2019 and an end date of June 30, 2020.
Core responsibilities include:
Meeting with students to coordinate purchasing for their student organizations
Verification of university procurement cards held by student leaders
Processing financial transactions in conjunction with SLICE finance staff for student organizations including purchase orders, journal entries, etc
Processing student deposits and managing the cash box request process
Advising student and Greek organizations regarding financial policies and protocols via face to face meetings and over email
Support and deliver financial training for student and Greek organizations
Manage other financially-related projects in support of the SLICE office

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration highly desired; combination of education and experience may be considered.
Minimum three years of related experience in finance and business administration with knowledge of accounting practices required.
