About the Opportunity: Bouve College of Health Sciences has over 200 faculty members, with approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 2,400 graduate students. It is the leading national model for education and research in the health, psychosocial and biomedical sciences and supports the University's mission of educating students for a life of fulfillment and accomplishment and creating and translating knowledge to meet global and societal needs. Within Bouve, the Behrakis Health Sciences Center houses a state of the art human performance and exercise laboratory with teaching and research space, including fully equipped exercise stress testing stations, metabolic carts, Lunar DEXA machine, an underwater weighing tank, Cybex and Keiser strength and power equipment, wet lab facilities for blood processing and muscle biopsies. The Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite, opened in 2013, provides a state-of-the-art simulation center for interprofessional education.

Responsibilities: The Assistant Program Director will be responsible for overseeing three main academic program domains. 1) To independently direct and otherwise assist the Director of the MPH Program on all operational and administrative aspects of the program, including student admissions, recruitment, retention activities; career development and mentoring; and program evaluation. The Assistant Program Director will contribute to teaching and mentoring of students, be responsible for practicum, assist with capstone projects, and assist with workforce development activities. The Assistant Program Director will develop and maintain relationships with students, faculty, and alumni in order to address student and faculty queries and concerns and evaluate the MPH program. The responsibilities of the Assistant Program Director are critical to the MPH program overall and to maintaining accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). 2) To serve as the lead on all activities and responsibilities related to the maintenance of the accreditation of all department programs accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). This encompasses the systematic monitoring, assessment, and evaluation of programs to ensure alignment with accreditation standards and the regular preparation of annual reports on accredited programs. The Assistant Program Director is responsible for all data collection, cleaning, and reporting. These duties pertain to all current and future degrees accredited by CEPH. 3) To work closely with the MPH Program Director to expand community partnerships, oversee and maintain the MPH Program Community Advisory Board and Alumni Advisory Board, and identify new opportunities for growth and innovation within the MPH Program. The Assistant Program Director will also play a leadership role in the expansion of existing dual-degree/Plus-One programs and the formation of new combined degree programs.
Qualifications: Mature, experienced professional capable of independently leading program development, management, and diverse educational support functions. Master's degree in Public Health is required. A minimum of two years of experience in a Higher Education setting, preferably in Public Health practice and/or in Public Health or other Health related graduate education is strongly preferred. Familiarity with the administration of a Master of Public Health Program and/or other health related graduate program required. Familiarity with CEPH accreditation requirements strongly preferred.
Demonstrated public health related teaching support and research related experience and skills in evaluation methodologies including database management (Excel, Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey) required.
Experience in student undergraduate or graduate health education recruitment, admissions, course guidance, community placement development and capstone completion preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, evidence of success working in a team environment, and proven capacity to learn new curricular and program development strategies, including online education approaches.
Applicants must possess a high degree of self-motivation and have demonstrated ability to lead and follow through with projects.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal are required. Applicants must have ability to relate well with all levels of the community and people of diverse ethnic and international backgrounds. They must be able to multi-task, work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, assume initiative with program related activities and handle confidential information. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as experience working with CAS and CRM systems, MS-Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), various e-mail programs, Endnote, Adobe Acrobat, and WordPress required.
