FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 2 , Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) , to provide complex and diverse financial support. Responsibilities include acting as contact for credit card approvals and maintenance; processing research appointments in GAP; assisting with financial review and control process, identifying and addressing concerns, running reports, making follow-up recommendations, and assisting with developing policies/procedures; reviewing transactions related to cost objects to ensure that expenses and revenues are accurate, timely, complete, and properly documented; reviewing, processing, and tracking payments and reconciling bills/invoices/requisitions/purchase orders/requests for payment; resolving billing discrepancies; approving invoices/RFPs and travel expense reports; distributing and following up on quarterly salary distribution reports and handling salary distribution changes; reviewing expenditures/transactions for conformance with budgets and MIT policy and processing financial transactions; assisting with preparing annual financial expenditure report; travel/procurement card processing; assisting with disseminating financial information and training users of credit/travel cards; providing reports to the financial officer as needed; and working on special projects. May track submitted proposals, review award terms, monitor and reconcile grant budgets, and assist in pre-award process; and guide support staff and/or provide feedback on financial and administration policy/procedures.
REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years' accounting or finance experience; excellent analytical, financial, organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills; good judgment, tact, and discretion with sensitive/confidential matters; ability to manage changing and conflicting priorities; knowledge of accounting principles, databases, and spreadsheets; meticulous attention to detail; ability to work independently and within a coordinated team; and proficiency with Excel. PREFERRED : experience in financial administration or higher education; and familiarity with SAP and MIT-specific applications such as Concur, Atlas, Buy to Pay, etc. Job #17851-5
