Job Summary: To work at the Stone Center Counseling Service as the Cross-Cultural Specialist. To focus on the diverse needs of the students by assessing their needs and updating, educating and training the clinical staff. To help educate the college community regarding the multicultural needs of the students and how to best connect with, understand, and support them. To work with students, staff and faculty, and be the Counseling Service’s liaison to the Office of Intercultural Education. To work as part of the clinical team providing direct clinical services to Wellesley College students, as well as emergency services and after –hours’ on-call rotation, and consultation to the community at large. Also, supervise and provide education and clinical training to graduate students in schools of psychology and social work.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
Cross -Cultural Specialist for the Counseling Service and College Community at large;
To exhibit expertise in cross-cultural counseling drawing from a theoretical and research body of knowledge to help educate the staff and larger college community to increase their level of cross-cultural competence and sensitivity.
To provide training and education to the Counseling and Health Service Staffs as well as the larger College community, including students staff and faculty, regarding the mental health needs of the diverse student population.
To provide direct clinical (psychological) services, both individual and group, to Wellesley College students.
To provide emergency and after hours on-call services.
To supervise, educate and train graduate students as part of the Clinical Training Program.
To participate on various college committees and initiatives as deemed appropriate.
To assist with the outreach initiative of the Counseling Service.
