The Student Financial Services (SFS) Counselor focuses on providing a high level of customer service via walk-in counseling, phone calls and appointments regarding the financial aid process, student account inquires, and financing options. Responsibilities: Serve as the main point of contact for assigned caseload of students on all matters related to financial aid plans, institutional aid awards, payment plans, University charges and student accounts. Conduct appointments in person and over the telephone with accepted students to explain financial aid, costs and financing options. Document interactions in Salesforce CRM. Record and manage incoming documentation flow. Review aid files, perform verification, and review aid appeals and special condition requests. Provide first-level institutional collections activities including telephone calls, emails and applying late fees. Discuss billing questions with students and their families and provide detailed information about all charges. In addition to the assigned student caseload, the Counselor will also manage and be responsible for a minimum of one of the primary SFS functions, such as delinquent payment plans, federal work-study, outside scholarships, or unusual enrollment histories, etc. Represent the Office at Open Houses, Student Orientation and other College events. Develop and maintain documentation of appropriate procedures for administrative responsibilities. Some evening and weekend work as needed.Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.Qualifications:Required: Bachelor?s degree Two years of experience in higher education financial aid, admissions, registration or advising Experience with complex databases and or CRM systems Ellucian Colleague experience preferred Ability to discuss the details of a student's bill and conduct necessary follow-up and outreach in order to collect payment.
