ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, DINING , Dean for Student Life-Housing , to manage approximately twelve vendor contracts with over two dozen dining locations across campus. Will collaborate with the director to ensure that dining partners deliver best-in-class dining to MIT students, faculty, staff, and guests. Responsibilities include leading the daily monitoring of all food service providers in all aspects of quality control and compliance with operating agreements; ensuring that dining partners maintain the highest levels of safety and sanitation in compliance with all Institute, county, state, and federal standards/regulations; serving as liaison with food service contractor on-campus management teams, including large multi-location operators and small stand-alone restaurateurs; working with city inspection services on compliance requirements; developing equipment specifications; strategizing sustainability programs and initiatives involving MIT departments, food service contractors, external organizations, and students; directly supervising the MIT pubs manager; and ensuring all permits and licenses are renewed and displayed properly.
REQUIRED : five years' progressive experience in higher education, food, or hospitality services environment , including residential and retail operations, budget management, and facility/maintenance/design; knowledge of food service operations and sanitation regulations; experience with facility management, kitchen design, renovations, and construction; strong time-management, leadership, management, critical-thinking, active listening, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; ability to multitask, demonstrate creative problem solving, conduct operations analysis, and apply results of facility design to new construction and renovation projects and future direction for Campus Dining; proficiency with spreadsheet software, database systems, and other software; and ServSafe certification or ability to get certified within three months of employment. B.A./B.S. in food service, hospitality, business administration, or related field and multi-location supervisory experience preferred. Job #17807-8
