The overarching mission of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is to advance the public's health through learning, discovery, and communication. The Department of Operations, at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (HCSPH), is responsible for planning and design, construction, maintenance, security, move management, health and safety, and leased property management to ensure a safe, healthy built environment in support of our institutional mission. HCSPH encompasses 800K square feet of office, classroom, and research space in 16 locations within the Boston Longwood Medical Area and Cambridge.
Reporting to the Director of Planning and Facilities, the Facilities Manager (FM) will oversee and manage the physical space, assets, and outside grounds throughout the HCSPH campus with an eye for detail and a focus on our overarching sustainable principles in support of a safe and healthy environment. They will develop and manage FM-related vendor contracts (internal and external) in-line with established University policy and internal budgets, assess and continually monitor facility conditions, maintain an online facilities condition assessment database, and provide input into the strategic capital and operating renewal budget process. They will also coordinate, triage, and plan corrective actions with all stakeholders, act as the primary planner and contact for planned and unplanned utility outages, major repairs and remediation projects, and manage approved budgets. The FM will also participate in capital and non-capital construction project management roles as required.
Other duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
MEP maintenance and repair
Submitting and following up on work requests for tradespeople and custodial staff
Hazardous material and waste management
Elevator maintenance and repairs
Facilities continuous commissioning
Act as a member of the Convocation Operations team
Coordinate with Harvard Environmental Health & Safety on fire drills
Environmental compliance reporting
Represent the HCSPH Operations Department on multiple groups and subcommittees
Other duties as assigned

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
5+ years of related experience required
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Experience managing multiple diverse projects, estimating, and contract management preferred
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM) preferred
Experience with MS Excel (and other Office products), Maximo, Autocad/Revit, and Building Automated Control systems preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills; general construction and building system knowledge; strong decision-making skills, experience remaining calm, thoughtful, and focused during emergencies and major events; experience bringing tasks to completion effectively and communicating status changes to end-users professionally preferred
