SENIOR FINANCIAL OFFICER , Mechanical Engineering (ME) , to serve as a key member of the department's Research Administration Services team. Will provide critical support to faculty, serving as primary point of contact on all aspects of complex pre- and post-award sponsored program activities. Will work with the manager of research administration to provide guidance and support on all pre- and post-award activities assigned to the research administration team; collaborate on developing solutions for non-standard issues and solving operational matters that impact efficient and effective research administration; monitor the financial performance of grants and contracts and provide regular updates to a portfolio of PIs; provide financial analysis and oversight and prepare standard and non-standard reports for PIs, senior administrators, and sponsors; and continually monitor accounts to ensure compliance with MIT and sponsor policies through the life of the award, including the project's close-out period. The position involves regular interactions with the office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Office of the Vice President for Finance, and many departments across MIT.
Mechanical Engineering is the largest department in the School of Engineering and the number-one ranked mechanical engineering department in the world.
REQUIRED : bachelor's degree; at least five years' accounting or finance experience; initiative; ability to work independently to solve problems with minimal supervision; team orientation; ability to adhere to tight deadlines; strong interpersonal, communication, analysis, and organizational skills; knowledge of federal guidelines; advanced-level knowledge of Excel and SAP or similar accounting package; and relational database skills.
