Brown Universityâ™s Office of Financial Aid is seeking a team member to assist in the administration of multi-faceted federal and institutional student financial aid program. Primary responsibilities include counseling prospective students, current undergraduates, and families on all aspects of financial aid programs at Brown. Responsibilities also include reviewing and analyzing financial aid applications to determine financial need and awards.
The primary responsibilities of the OFA Counselor will be to counsel prospective students (both graduate and undergraduate) and their parents on the availability and eligibility for financial aid programs at Brown. Review and analyze financial aid applications and determine financial need. Respond to telephone calls and emails, from graduate, undergraduates, parents, departments and colleagues relating to financial aid inquiries. Assist in other office duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of relevant experience utilizing quantitative and analytical skills, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Financial Aid experience is preferred but not required.
Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations is required.
Strong organizational skills; attentiveness to detail.
Strong interpersonal as well as written communication skills.
Demonstrated experience with computing systems and applications skills with various applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Banner, etc.) preferred.
