Dean College's School of the Arts is looking for a dynamic, experienced, student-centered educator to teach Voice and Articulation during the fall semester. The College seeks Adjunct Faculty who focus on experiential learning and active engagement in their classrooms. Adjuncts chosen to teach at Dean create a compelling and professional learning environment for students of diverse learning backgrounds.
We are seeking an adjunct instructor to teach THA 190: Voice and Articulation on-campus during the day. There are currently two THA 190 sections available on Monday/Wednesday, 12:30-1:20 pm and Monday/Wednesday, 3:30-4:20pm. THA 190: Voice and Articulation is a 1-credit course that meets for 2 hours/week. There are approximately 25 students in each section. The School of the Arts provides a course charter with course objectives and learning outcomes, sample syllabi, and the course materials (i.e., course readings) for the class. The adjunct pay rate is $1867/section. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold one office hour each week for each section they teach.

Teach undergraduate coursework in Voice and Articulation, focusing on the fundamentals vocal training as well as a healthy technique for speaking and voice production for the stage;
Introduce phonetics and vocal dialects.
Expertise and/or certification in a known methodology (Fitzmaurice, Knight-Thompson Speechwork, Miller Voice Method, etc.) required;
Relevant teaching experience and a sound knowledge of the anatomy of the human voice are essential;
A secondary area of expertise in a physical approach to acting (i.e. Lecoq, Chekhov, etc.) and/or a body-focused technique (i.e. Alexander, Feldenkrais, etc.) highly preferred.
