The Department of Sociology at Worcester State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in sociology position to begin September 2020. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential for excellence in research and strong commitment to teaching and service. They must be able to teach core courses within the major (e.g. sociological theory, research methods and/or statistics). In addition, we seek teacher-scholars committed to public sociology and social justice with interests in one or more of the following specialty areas: children/youth/families, structural inequality/social stratification or politics/power/social movements.

As a department engaged in public sociology and social justice, our faculty strive to teach in ways that stress critical thinking coupled with action. If you join the department, you will have opportunities to work collaboratively with the Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Program, Ethnic Studies Program, Global Studies Program, Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program, Center for Civic Engagement, Center for the Study of Human Rights and Center for Social Innovation.
Minimum requirements include a Ph.D. in Sociology, conferred by August 2020.
