STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Bristol Community College is seeking qualified applicants as part-time Special Programs Coordinators for Tutoring. Positions in our Learning Commons may be discipline-specific or in Writing Center tutoring which includes writing and critical reading. Positions may be at one or more of our sites and include day, evening or weekend hours. The part-time employees will offer direct tutoring to students and will participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and in Learning Commons' initiatives to help ensure delivery of quality academic tutoring services.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of Tutoring and Academic Support; Works in collaboration with the Writing Center Coordinator as appropriate.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a professional tutor to a diverse group of community college students.
Aid student in developing both conceptual and practical approaches as well as study skills to increase academic success.
Participate in professional development sessions and program meetings to assist and plan for college wide tutoring.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum requirement of a Master's Degree in relevant area of proposed tutoring; strong written and oral communication including interpersonal skills are essential; and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in higher education, supporting students and/or teaching; ability to use tutoring technology in the delivery of tutoring services and the ability to speak a language in addition to English.
POSITION STATUS: This is a part-time, MCCC/MTA unit, position with no benefits.
