Research Technician, BioMedical Engineering, School of Engineering - (19001305)
Device Design - This lab technician job exists to assist in the design, construction and daily/ weekly lab maintenance tasks in running small devices and bioreactor systems, as well as standardized assays in support of these systems that are widely used in the lab.
Preparation of small devices and bioreactor systems to support tissue culture needs
Preparation of small devices to support biomaterial processing and device fabrication needs
Conducting routine assays for the systems, including maintenance of fluid flow, oxygen levels an related tasks
Running of standard assays including HPLC, mass spec, PCR, Western Blotting and fluorescence microscopy
Immunohistochemistry on cells and tissues samples
Assisting in order and stock levels, making lab stock solutions for assays and culture medium
Autoclave trash, waste pick-up coordinator, and safety officer (maintaining compliance)
Protocol write-ups and updates of general lab activities
Specific experimental assistance as needed
Minimum requirement is a B.S. in biomedical engineering or bioengineering or related background. Some biological laboratory experience is required. Background in device engineering, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and/or electrical engineering helpful.
Background in device design and fabrication and device maintenance of function under sterile conditions helpful.
