The Operations Division serves the four Tufts University campuses: the main Medford/Somerville campus, the Boston Health & Sciences campus, the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts and the Grafton Veterinary campus together encompassing 170 buildings and 5.5 million gross square feet. A broad range of services are provided to support the university campuses including facilities services, capital program management, campus planning and renewal, campus engineering and energy management, event services and public safety. Together, these functions are responsible for the efficient, cost effective and safe operations of our university as well as the maintenance and management of our university assets to support our research and educational mission, vision and values.
The Operations Division is in a transformative state as it invests in technologies, processes and resources to implement asset / lifecycle-based management practices over its major investments in buildings, building systems, automated systems controls and major equipment components. Integral to the success of these programs is the ability to collect vital data throughout the flow of the business processes that can be collected consistently and compellingly to enable data-driven management and decision-making. The successful candidate will have a strong aptitude for understanding financial, operational and qualitative data, it's context within technology systems and business process and its connection to the achievement of organizational directives and goals. The incumbent will have an outstanding ability to consume data in variety of complex systems and processes and to translate this data in meaningful ways to inspire behaviors and results. The incumbent will have experience with both enterprise-level and subsidiary technologies, have a strong aptitude for quickly absorbing and adapting to new technologies, related processes and the identification of improvements and opportunities. Solid execution skills in identifying, leading and / or guiding process change initiatives and creating related business cases is also a key requirement for this role.
The Senior Data Analyst will lead the design, development, testing, deployment and maintenance of automated reports, dashboards and visualization projects that provide actionable insights into the business performance and support of the Division's strategic programs.
The Senior Data Analyst will play a key role in helping to support asset-based management initiative as well as other Division-level strategies by collaborating with stakeholders to identify and implement data driven solutions that support the goals of each initiative. For assigned projects, he/she will communicate and collaborate with users to analyze information needs translate needs into solutions in existing systems as well as develop functional requirements for emerging systems and processes.
The Senior Data Analyst will drive data prototyping sessions to ensure the business requirements are understood prior to solutions development and will partner with business and technology subject matter experts to establish the end-state vision, analyzing tradeoffs involving system performance, cost or complexity.
He/she will partner with management and end- users at all levels to ensure that solutions are adequately understood, trained tested and that ongoing quality checks are incorporated.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or closely related discipline
Job related experience in a similar role may be substituted for experience.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make quick and sound economic judgments based upon dynamic market conditions and tight operating deadlines;
Ability to perform complex financial analyses drawing upon data for multiple sources and technologies; communicate the results in a clear and concise manner in writing and in meetings;
Ability to assume ownership of and provide leadership for significant projects, possibly in a client-facing role
Experience with Maximo, Tableau, Peoplesoft or similar systems / platforms
Willing and able to rapidly learn new modeling and software platforms
Experience with negotiations and project coordination
Ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures;
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to handle confidential employee and administrative information with tact and discretion.
Self-starter focused on continuous improvements and executing transformative change.
Ability to prioritize tasks based on deadlines and project requirements.
Certified Public Accountant, accounting support or similar background.
Aptitude and ease in developing skills to access data from varied and complex systems
