This position is in the School of Law. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean of Career Development at the School of Law, the Program Coordinator works directly with the Assistant Director and the Legal Counselor for the Office of Career Development. The incumbent serves as a conduit between employers, students and alumni regarding legal career options and opportunities and job search strategies.
Administrative Duties Perform routine, day-to-day administrative duties, such as answering phones, greeting office visitors, managing appointment calendar, drafting correspondence, and coordinating mass mailings or additional requests, as needed. Manage the job-posting system for employer, student, and alumni information, including job postings, OCI, resume collections, programming, and internal emails.
Handle all aspects of marketing and setting up events. This includes scheduling rooms, posting advertisements, e-mailing students, ordering food, reserving AV equipment, reserving parking, managing RSVPs', coordinating travel arrangements, and following up with speakers.
Maintain records of recommendation letters from faculty on behalf of students applying to judicial clerkships through the OSCAR system. Work with the Assistant Dean in compiling and reporting statistical data on our law students/graduates for the Dean of the School of Law, American Association of Law Schools, American Bar Association, and the National Association for Law Placement. Direct and assign work to student workers. Coordinate reciprocity requests and responses with other law schools. Collaborate with other law school departments as needed.
Oversee the summer stipend disbursements and hourly reports. Process accounts receivable and payable and prepare report of accounts. Manage and advertise resume book collection and all related functions. Monitor, maintain, and develop the Legal Career Resource Library.
Additional Functions Respect and maintain confidentiality, parameters of operation, professional protocols, and individual privacy. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or supervisor's designee.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
One year of experience in an educational setting or law firm environment.
Superior efficiency in computer technology, including experience with web-page design and development. Highly proficient in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task. Maintain a professional demeanor and a positive, can-do attitude.
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, as well as the ability to maintain and nurture on-going professional relationships with law students, alumni, faculty and legal employers.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with the legal industry.
