The Brown University Oncology Research Group (BrUOG) was created in 1994 to coordinate clinical cancer research for Brownâ™s affiliated hospitals and Warren Alpert Medical School faculty. BrUOG is a membership organization, inclusive of 3 hospital systems, representing 5 hospitals. BrUOGâ™s mission is to improve cancer care through the implementation of innovative, multidisciplinary clinical cancer trials. BrUOG provides the infrastructure for the efficient development and implementation of these trials, which are created by Brown University faculty. BrUOG trials are unique because they are investigator-initiated, as such, these trials represent an incredibly important sector of cancer research. The central office, provides initial study concept and trial design support, and is responsible for trial administration, safety monitoring, data analysis, and the presentation and publication of findings.
Under the supervision of the Director of Operations, the Coordinator will provide overall organization and support to BrUOG and work independently to coordinate Investigational new drug (IND) exempt clinical trials. The Coordinator will also assist the Director with special projects and ad-hoc tasks as necessary.
Bachelors Degree required plus 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience working on clinical research trials a plus
Knowledge of some medical terminology required; Oncology terminology preferred
Prior knowledge and training with an electronic database system a plus, or proficiency in learning a computerized data system
Proficient in Word and Excel
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently and good time management skills
Detail orientation is critical to this job
