JOB SUMMARY: The Physician provides medical care to Lasell College students and serves as a signatory for the nurse practitioners on staff, in the Advanced Practice role as per state regulations. The Physician will work collaboratively with the nurse practitioners in delivering direct service within a health promoting model of care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements below are intended to describe the principal duties of the person or persons assigned to this job. 1. Assist and collaborate on health care with the nurse practitioners; be available to evaluate students who are ill or who have other health-related issues. 2. Assist in the annual review, revision, and approval of updated clinical/research evidence-based medical protocols. 3. Review minimum of five (5) visit notes of each nurse practitioner, every 90 days, as required by Massachusetts Board of Nursing Regulations for NP practice. 4. Make time for consultation on specific student problems, as deemed necessary by the nurse practitioners on staff; similarly, provide consultation to the Counseling Center staff members, as needed. 5. Be available for telephone consultations with nurse practitioners on staff, as needed during office hours, regarding individual student health problems. 6. Assist in facilitating appropriate outside medical referrals. 7. Communication: students, faculty, other physician consultants, colleagues in Health Services and the Counseling Center, Campus Police, Department of Public Health 8. Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibility: As per Massachusetts state regulations, the supervising Physician is the individual with whom the nurse practitioners have developed and signed a mutually agreed upon set of medical/practice guidelines.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB:
Minimum Education level: Degree from an accredited medical school plus certification in Internal Medicine/Adolescents/Pediatrics
Computer skills: Microsoft Office
Other Requirements of the Job: Minimum of two years of experience in college health preferred.
CERTIFICATION, REGISTRATION OR LICENSURE REQUIRED BY THE JOB:
1. Current Massachusetts state medical license with certification in either Pediatrics or Internal Medicine 2. Current Massachusetts Department of Public Health Controlled Substances registration 3. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
