REAL ESTATE CONTROLLER , MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo) , to provide leadership, management, and strategic direction for accounting and reporting activities related to MIT's Cambridge Real Estate Group's operating and development activities. MITIMCo's Real Estate Group serves as an owner, operator, and developer of a high profile real estate portfolio comprised of multiple asset types including commercial and residential. Responsibilities include developing broad real estate accounting strategies and processes to address regulatory guidelines and evaluating and executing strategies for the company's cash management; ensuring the timely delivery, quality, and accuracy of financial reporting for the real estate portfolio for both internal and external purposes; directing and monitoring activities of JLL accounting team to ensure consistency of accounting treatments and accuracy of financial recording process into Yardi; partnering with the asset management team on the annual budget and reforecasting processes; developing and implementing real estate accounting policy/processes in line with industry best practices; leading the annual appraisal review process; collaborating with the real estate team in recapitalization initiatives including sales, joint ventures, debt financing, and other financial transactions; ensuring compliance with debt covenants; creating and maintaining relationships with external financial institutions, legal counsel, tax advisors, and insurance providers; and partnering on the planning and integration of systems, data, and reporting to create efficiencies.
REQUIRED : ten years' real estate accounting experience--preferably as a manager--at an institutional investment manager, private equity fund, or other real estate firm; bachelor's degree in accounting/finance; in-depth knowledge of real estate investment and valuation fundamentals; and strong organizational skills. CPA designation, experience at a tax-exempt institution, and experience working in Yardi accounting systems preferred. Job #17107-12
