TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I, MANALIS LAB , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research , to join an exciting collaboration between the labs of Scott Manalis and Tyler Jacks. Will participate in a fast-paced interdisciplinary project aimed at understanding the role of circulating tumor cells in metastasis using genetically engineered mouse models and novel microfuidic approaches for real-time monitoring. Duties will principally include assisting with and performing experimental testing of microfluidic devices with fluorescent optical readout, live animal survival surgery that involves installing an arteriovenous shunt, animal husbandry, and performing single-cell purification assays. Will also provide research and technical support to postdocs and graduate students in a collaborative project involving engineering and biological laboratories at the Koch Institute; and perform both routine rodent research methods and techniques, standard molecular and cell biology techniques, and novel engineering approaches.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in biological or related sciences; at least two years of experience working/performing research in a biological laboratory; experience in the ethical and humane use of animals in laboratory research; demonstrated experience with small animal handling, preferably with rodent surgeries; knowledge of molecular biology and genetics; willingness to work with animals; excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills; experience working in a team-oriented environment; practiced documentation skills and comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards and providing exceptional services; meticulous attention to detail; a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality work; and awareness of basic safety issues and the ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
